Mr. William "Bill" Barron Luke, age 64 years old of Axson, Ga. passed away, Monday, July 10, 2023, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga. He was born on January 20, 1959, in Nashville, Ga., the son of Kenneth and Dora Jones Luke. Mr. Luke lived most of his life in and around the Axson area, where he worked with Guthrie Motors as a wrecker driver. He enjoyed fast cars, and all wildlife, especially fishing. Mr. Luke was a U.S. Army Veteran and was proud to be a part of the Big Red One First Infantry Forward position. He attended Axson Evangelistic Church and was preceded in death, along with his parents, by his grandparents; O.B. Luke and Adel and John Luke.

Funeral services for Mr. Luke were held, Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Westside Holiness Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Steve Gentry and Bro. Ashley Guthrie officiating. Musical selections included, “He Whispered Sweet Peace to Me” and “Amazing Grace” rendered by Allison Lowry, with Sarah Gentry accompanying at the piano. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was rendered by Sarah Gentry, pianist.
The interment followed in Axson Cemetery with special song, “Sheltered in the Arms” by soloist, Allison Lowry, accompanied by David Eldridge on the guitar, followed by Military Honors rendered by a US Army Guard Contingent, out of Ft. Stewart, Ga.
Serving as active pallbearers were: Anthony Graves, Christopher Lee Luke, Christian Lee Luke, Yancey Guthrie, Hunter Guthrie, and Ansley Guthrie.
Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
