Wanda Hawkins Bowen

March 26, 1945 — May 28, 2021

Mrs. Wanda H. Bowen, age 76 of Pearson, Ga., passed away, Friday, May 28, 2021, at Navicent Medical Center in Macon, Ga. following an extended illness.  A native of Atkinson County, Mrs. Bowen was born, March 26, 1945, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.C. and Vera Lucille Fussell Mobley.  Throughout her life, she worked as an operator in the local sewing factory and as a homemaker.  Mrs. Bowen was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Bennie Hawkins, Jr.

Survivors include:

2 Sons:  Benjamin Hawkins of Pearson, Ga.

               Eddie Hawkins of Douglas, Ga.

 

Daughter:  Wanda Gail Hawkins of Pearson, Ga.

 

4 Brothers:  Maurice Mobley and wife Janice of Pearson, Ga.

                      Kenneth Mobley of Waycross, Ga.

                      Paul Wayne Hester and wife Tammy of Waresboro, Ga.

                      Jerry Hester and wife Rachael of Waycross, Ga.

 

3 Sisters:  Betty Ann Cooper of Valdosta, Ga.

                  Diann Wilkerson of Willacoochee, Ga.

                  Brenda Hester of Waycross, Ga.

 

8 Grandchildren, 4 Great-Grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Bowen were held, Wednesday, June 02, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. at Relihan Funeral Home Chapel in Pearson, Ga. with Elder Stevie Sirmans officiating, and eulogy given by her brother, Paul Wayne Hester.  Special musical selections included, “I Am a Child of God” and “Be Still My Soul” rendered by c.d.  The interment followed in Lang Cemetery in Clinch County with dedication of the grave, given by Mrs. Bowen’s brother, Jerry Hester. 

 

Serving as active pallbearers were:  Tommy Cooper, Jerry Hester, Ricky Wilkerson, Wade Sizemore, Paul Wayne Hester and Daniel Hester.

 

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
