Mrs. Virginia Bertha Cecil, age 83 years old of Pearson, Ga, passed away, Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at her home, following an extended illness. She was born in Vale Summit, Maryland on October 7, 1940, daughter of Elmer Walter and Mary Virginia Scott Loar. Coming from Cumberland, Maryland, she had made her home here in Pearson for the last 23 years where she was a homemaker who took great pride in taking care of her family. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, decorating, canning, and especially making her house a home, as she spent most of her treasured times surrounded by family and loved ones. Mrs. Cecil was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was preceded in death, along with her parents, by her husband, Kenneth Irvin Cecil, 2 sons; Raymond Ben Cecil, and David Eugene Cecil, and 2 brothers; Elmer Lee Loar, and Wayne Lloyd Loar.

Brother: John H. Loar and wife, Helen Marie of Springfield, W.V.
Sister: Judith Ann Murray of Vale Summit, Md.
20 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, along with many other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cecil were held, Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Pearson, Ward, with Bro. Jonathan McDowell presiding and speakers, Pres. Timothy Fussell, Bro. Stevie Sirmans, and the eulogy given by her granddaughter, Amanda Cecil. Special musical selections included, "Nearer My God to Thee" and "God Be with You, Till We Meet Again" led by chorister and daughter-in-law, Sis. Tonya Cecil, rendered by those in the congregation with Pres. Timothy Fussell accompanying at the organ, who also provided soft music for the Prelude and Postlude. The interment followed in Cumberland, Maryland at Hillcrest Burial Park on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 2:00 P.M.
Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, Ga., along with Durst Funeral Home in Frostburg, Maryland were in charge of the arrangements.
