Verma Taft Dean

Mrs. Verma Taft Dean, age 92 years old, of Valdosta, Ga., passed away, Sunday, October 1, 2023, at her home in Valdosta.  She was born in Atkinson County on November 2, 1930, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Richard and Lula Thigpen Taft.  Mrs. Dean was retired from AT&T after 30+ years.  She is preceded in death, along with her parents, by her husband, Daniel, sisters and brothers-in-law, Wilma (George) Whittle, and Doris (William) Tew.  

Mrs. Dean is survived by a daughter, Katherine Dean of Valdosta, Ga., two nephews: Ronnie Whittle (Chris), and Charles Whittle (Kawana), as well as, four nieces, Dianne (Warren), Janice Blanchard (Marcus), Pam Selden and Sherrell Snipes.  She is also survived by wonderful great niece and great nephews, along with several great-great nephews and other relatives.  

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to all of Mrs. Dean's caregiver and hospice nurses.

Graveside services were held, Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Arna Cemetery with her nephew, Mr. Ronnie Whittle officiating.  Special musical selections included, "How Great Thou Art", and "Blessed Assurance" rendered by cd.  

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be made to the charity of your choice.

Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
