Mrs. Thelma Loretta Brunner, age 73 of Pearson, Ga., passed away Friday, July 12, 2019 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Ga. following an extended illness. A native of Fernandina Beach, Fla. Mrs. Brunner was born, July 23, 1945, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Napoleon B. and Thelma Allen Hurlburt, Sr. She had made her home in Pearson, Ga. since l979 and was retired from the Atkinson County BOE Transportation Dept., where she was a school bus driver for many years. She also enjoyed crocheting, fishing and most importantly, spending time with her family. Mrs. Brunner was a member of Ozias Freewill Baptist Church. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Mr. John Clifford Brunner, three brothers; Danny Hurlburt, Steve Hurlburt and Napoleon Hurlburt, Jr. and two sisters; Lila Pittman, and Ann Hurlburt Spikes. Survivors include: Son: John Brunner and wife Hope of Hazlehurst, Ga. Eddie Brunner of Pearson, Ga. Daughter: Charlotte Brunner of Pearson, Ga. 2 Sisters: Cill Stevens and husband Larry of Nashville, Ga. Minnie Stone and husband Eddie of Pearson, Ga. 6 Grandchildren, 2 Great-Grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Brunner were held, Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Ozias Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Johnson and Rev. John C. Brunner officiating. Special musical selections included, “Beulah Land”, “I Won’t Have to Cross Jordan Alone” and “Amazing Grace, My Chains are Gone” rendered by cd. The interment followed at Sunnyside Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were: Shane Anderson, Brian Anderson, Derrick Newcomb, Russell Hurlburt, Michael Martin, Banks Edison, Toby Roberts and John Sewell. Serving as honorary pallbearers were: Kay Relihan, June Mullis, Janice Davis, Edwin “Tator” Davis, Tony Stevens, Ray Douglas, Brian Schotsh, and David Taylor. Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
