Pearl, age 91, finished her earthly race on February 6, 2025. Her life spanned nearly a century. Born and raised on a farm in Axson, GA, she learned to pick cotton, feed chickens, cook and care for her siblings. Her parents carried them to Primitive Baptist church meetings in a wagon pulled by a mule. Years later, she boarded a plane and flew to New York alone.
Her faith in God trumped all else. Pearl’s superpower was prayer. Abraham Lincoln said, “All that I have, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother. I remember my mother’s prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life.”
This is the mother and grandparent she was. No matter the challenge any family member faced, Pearl prayed them through it. Her positive outlook, generous spirit and kind heart left a profound impact on all she encountered. She was a beautiful soul and will be greatly missed, but the legacy she leaves will live on. Pearl was one of a kind.
