Mrs. Mildred Harrell Corbitt, age 89 of Pearson, Ga. passed away, Monday, September 27, 2021, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga. following a brief illness. Born in Pearson, Ga. on December 3, 1931, to Elias Harrell and Millie Carver. Mrs. Corbitt worked with the Atkinson County School System in the food service department and later in the family’s business, at Corbitt’s Restaurant. She was a lifelong member of Ozias Freewill Baptist Church and at the time of her death, was the oldest living member. Mrs. Corbitt enjoyed many things in her spare time including, traveling, working, cooking, sewing and loved listening to gospel music. She is preceded in death, along with her parents, by her husband; Felton Corbitt, son; Wayne Corbitt and 4 brothers; James W., Johnny C., Willie, and Elias Harrell.
Survivors include:
Son: Jack Corbitt and wife, Marie of Pearson, Ga.
Daughter: Lynn Corbitt Hardeman and husband, Lennie of Eastman, Ga.
4 Grandchildren and 4 Great-Grandchildren along with several other relatives also survive.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Corbitt were held, Thursday, September 30, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Ozias Freewill Baptist Church in Pearson, Ga. with Rev. Larry Johnson, Rev. Charles Hardeman and Bro. D.Q. Pittman officiating. Special musical selections included, “In the Garden” and “Beulah Land” rendered by soloist and guitarist, Bob Andrews, and “I’m Satisfied” rendered by soloist, Vicki Lee. The interment followed in Union Hill Cemetery.
Serving as active pallbearers were: Dorsey Thigpen, Jimmy Corbitt, Rickey Gurley, James Corbitt, Paul Mizell and Teddy Burch.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were: Maurice Mobley, Danny Corbitt, Bruce Corbitt, John Corbitt and Wayne Giddens.
Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
