Lonnie Gene "Yeller" Corbitt

Mr. Gene “Yeller” Corbitt, age 67, of Axson, Ga., passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018 at his home in Axson, Ga. following a short illness. Born May 25, l95l in Homerville, Ga., Mr. Corbitt was the son of Noah Corbitt and Mary Ann Sutton Corbitt. He had made his home in Axson for most of his life and had worked at First String Space in Pearson, Ga. for many years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved to be around his family. He attended the Axson Church of God of Prophecy. He was preceded in death by a special niece, Talisa Hope Durrance. Survivors include:Wife: Maxine Geiger Corbitt of Axson, Ga. 2 Sons: Larry Corbitt and wife Eileen of Hortense, Ga.              Kevin Davis of Axson, Ga. 2 Daughters: Ann Corbitt of Nashville, Ga.                       Sharee Combs and husband Chris of Millwood, Ga. Brother: Bo Corbitt of Pearson, Ga. Sister: Shirley Copland of Lake Park, Ga. Nephew: Wade Carver and wife Haley of Pearson, Ga. 3 Special Great Nieces: Mackenzie Carver, Salah Durrance, and Bayli Jo Carver. 7 Grandchildren: Ail Wilson, Hunter Corbitt, Christian Proctor, Ryan Proctor, Seth Proctor, Little Gene Combs, and Claire Combs. Great Grandchild: Grey Wilson 4 Special Young Men that were like sons to him: Jon Simmons “Big Jon”, William Corbitt “Slawdog”, Clayton Cornelius, and John Smith “Shoke”. Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.Funeral Services for Mr. Corbitt were held Monday, November 26, 2018, at 3:00 P.M. at the Axson Church of God of Prophecy in Axson, Ga., with Bishop Steve Sirmans officiating. The Eulogy was given by Mrs. Sue White. Special musical selections were “Leave it There” and “Amazing Grace” rendered by soloist Stephen Dixon who accompanied himself on the guitar. Prelude and Postlude music was by Stephen Dixon. The interment followed in Axson Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were: Jeffery Davis, Berry Cox, Berry Lang, Jason Vining, Wade Carver and Derryl Lee. Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
