Mrs. Lois Jean Cooper, age 68, of Axson, Ga. passed away Friday, January 31, 2025, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga.
Mrs. Cooper was born March 28, 1956, in Jacksonville, Fl. to the late Napoleon Broward, Jr. and Betty Jean Rosier Hurlbert. She had made her home in Atkinson County for most of her life and was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with family and looking after her animals. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Linda Jean Anderson, and brother, Malcom Hurlbert.
Survivors include:
Husband: Darryl A. Cooper of Axson, Ga.
2 Sons: Derrick Newcomb (Jackie) of Panama City, Fl.
James Newcomb of Douglas, Ga.
2 Sisters: Karen L. Larney of Axson, Ga.
Tempie Clark of Waresboro, Ga.
4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cooper were held on Monday, February 03, 2025, at 3:00 P.M. at Relihan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clyde Purvis officiating. Special music included “Dancing in The Sky”, “A Song for Mama”, and “Go Rest High on That Mountain” presented by cd. The internment followed in Jowers Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Alex Taylor, T.J. Reliford, Chad Tanner, Wade Reliford, Dennis Sangrey, and Jerome Hamilton
Honorary pallbearers were: Toby Roberts and Russell Hurlbert
Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
