Katherine Wynelle Giddens McMillan, age 94, of Lilburn, Georgia, passed away January 6, 2024. She was born May 5, 1929, in Willacoochee, Ga, daughter of the late Robert E. Giddens and Ruby Rouse Giddens.
Wynelle graduated from Willacoochee High School as Salutatorian and attended Berry College in Rome, Ga. She married her high school sweetheart, Earl K. McMillan, in 1949. They lived in Norcross and Chamblee, Ga. as well as Arlington, Texas while Earl was in the Navy. Returning to Georgia in 1969 where they made their home in Lilburn.
Wynelle was a homemaker, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved her family immensely. She loved to quilt, crochet and sew. She was active for many years with her husband in the Yarab Shrine Temple and the Tu-sh-la Ladies Auxiliary in Atlanta. She was a long-time member of the Willacoochee First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Earl K. McMillan, parents Robert E. and Ruby Giddens, Brothers, Lowell Giddens and Robert Giddens, Sister, Betty Giddens and daughter-in-law, Carol Ross McMillan.
Survivors include: Son- Kenneth McMillan, Daughter- Karen McMillan Carter (Wayne), Grandchildren- Brad McMillan, Amy McMillan Thompson (Kevin), Matt Carter (Kayla), Great Grandchildren- Kensley Thompson, Caroline Thompson, Aubrey Thompson and Weston Carter, Brother- Glenn Giddens, Sister- Gail Mosely (George), along with many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Willacoochee First Baptist Church, 280 Main St., Willacoochee, GA with Rev. Joe Taft officiating. Graveside services immediately followed at Willacoochee Cemetery.
Bill Head Funeral Home of Tucker, GA, along with Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA., were in charge of the arrangements.
