Jessie Donald "Duck" Mizell

March 18, 1941 — January 24, 2021

Mr. Jessie Donald "Duck" Mizell, age 79 of Axson, Ga., passed away Sunday, January 24, 2021 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Ga., following a short illness. A native of Axson, Ga., Mr. Mizell was born, March 18, 1941, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy and Sarah Crosby Mizell. He was of the Baptist faith and attended, Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Mr. Mizell was a farmer who also enjoyed, fishing, hunting deer and racoon and spending time with his family, especially his grandbabies. He was preceded in death, along with his parents, by his wife; Reba Ann Mizell, 2 Brothers; Roy "Junior" Mizell, Jr. and James Olin "Coon" Mizell, sister; Beulah Mae "Tookie" Adams, granddaughter; Lauren Claire George and great-great grandson: Aiden Walker Gillis.


Survivors include:

2 Sons: Lee Mizell and wife, Brenda of Axson, Ga.
            Travis Mizell and special friend, Michelle Ellis of Axson, Ga.

2 Daughters: Diane White and husband, Rodney of Axson, Ga.
                    Lori George and husband, Chris of Axson, Ga.

2 Sisters: Anna Jean "Anner" Boone of Axson, Ga.
               Madeline "Bat" Dillingham and husband, Glenn of Willacoochee, Ga.

12 Grandchildren, 20 Great-Grandchildren and 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren along with several other Nieces, Nephews and other relatives also survive. 

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Mizell were held, Friday, January 29, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Church Cemetery with Rev. Walter James officiating. Special musical selections included, "Far Away" and “Walk With My Daddy” rendered by cd. The interment followed in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Serving as active pallbearers were: Johnny Davis, Davis Gillis, Garrett White, Caleb White, Brandon Mizell and Ian Mizell.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were: Ben Daniels, Bartley Nugent, Joe Musgrove, Greg Vickers, Carol Carver, Ben Higgs, Wilford White, and Mt. Zion Senior Adult Sunday School Class.

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
