Gloria Bennett Kirkland

November 15, 1956 — October 1, 2020

Mrs. Gloria Bennett Kirkland, age 63 of Pearson, Ga. passed away at her home on Thursday, October 1, 2020, following an extended illness. 

A native of Albany, Ga., Mrs. Kirkland was born on November l5, l956, daughter of James D.  “Jim” Bennett and Opal Waters Bennett. She moved here in l980 from Powder Springs, Ga. after taking a job as an Agent with the UGA Cooperative Extension Service in Family and Consumer Sciences and the Atkinson County 4H Program. After retiring she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, reading, going to the beach and mountains, facebook, playing word games, cooking, and decorating. She attended both Stokesville Baptist Church and Springhead Methodist Church.  She was preceded in death by her father, James “Jim” Bennett and her husband, Bill Kirkland.

Survivors include: 

Mother:  Opal Bennett of Sautee, Ga.

 

Son:  Ben Kirkland of Pearson, Ga.

 

2 Brothers:  Bob Bennett and wife, Brenda of Austell, Ga.

                     Don Bennett of Huntsville, Al.

 

Brother-in-Law:  Joe Kirkland and wife, Sam of Lynchburg, Va.

 

Special Family Friend:  Janet Critzer of Pearson, Ga.

 

Special Friend:  Phil Wildish of London, England

 

4 Grandchildren:  Noah, Thomas, Emma and Addaleigh Delbridge

 

Several other Nieces, Nephews and other relatives also survive.

 

Memorial Services for Mrs. Kirkland were held Sunday, October 4, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Antioch Church with Bishop Lamar Park officiating. Special musical selections included, “Amazing Grace” and “It is Well with My Soul” rendered by CD.

 

Serving as Honorary pallbearers were, Michael Swails, Bren Mullis, Reef Mullis, Marcus Cofield, Mathew Cofield, Philip Spikes, Parker Liles, Sonny Weiss, Ray and Joyce Lott, Claeb Seymour, Sara Seymour, Callen Lee-Reeves and Titus Gakins.

 

Memorialization was by cremation.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be made to Antioch Cemetery Fund.
