Elaine Smith

Ms. Elaine Smith, age 68 years old, of Pearson, Ga. passed away Friday, March 17, 2023, at Baptist Village Healthcare Facility in Waycross, Ga. following an extended illness.  She was born May 12, 1954, in Douglas, Ga., daughter of Henry Sr. and Mattie Lou Corbitt Smith.  Ms. Elaine worked at Wal-Mart and in her spare time she enjoyed babysitting, reading and especially spending time with friends and family.  She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church and was preceded in death, along with her parents, by two brothers; Lester and Willie Smith, as well as one sister; Martha Smith. 

Survivors include:

Brother:  Henry Smith, Jr. and wife Debbie of Pearson, Ga.

3 Sisters:  Julia Vining and husband Charlie of Pearson, Ga.

                 Roxie Purvis and husband Allie of Pearson, Ga.

                 Susan Garrity and husband Bob of Pearson, Ga.

Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Graveside funeral services for Ms. Smith were held Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Fussell officiating. Special musical selection was “Amazing Grace” rendered acapella by the attending congregation.  The interment followed in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Serving as active pallbearers were:  Bobby Garrity, Cade Corbitt, Mark Vining, Charlie Vining, Henry Smith, and Manning Smith.

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
