Dorothy Daniel Walker

Mrs. Dorothy Daniel Walker, age 87, of Lakeland, Ga., formerly of Pearson, Ga., passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla. following a brief illness.

Born September l5, l93l, in Jacksonville, Fl., Mrs. Walker was the daughter of William Edwin, Sr. and Gladys Mullis Weathers. She had made her home in Pearson and Lakeland for many years and was a retired educator from the Atkinson County School System with thirty plus years of service. She was a graduate of Bessie Tift College and a longtime member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was of the Baptist Faith and a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Pearson, Ga., but was currently attending Unity United Methodist Church in Lakeland, Ga.. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Daniel and a son, Judson “Jud” Daniel.

Survivors include:

Husband:  W.C. “Blackie” Walker of Lakeland, Ga.

 2 Sons:  Walter Daniel and wife, Kay of Douglas, Ga.
                Paul Daniel of Douglas, Ga.

5 Grandchildren:  Kelsey Daniel
                             Kimberly Daniel
                             Danielle Daniel
                            Jason Daniel
                             Jonathan Daniel

3 Great-Grandchildren:  Raelyn Haskins
                                      Austin Haskins
                                     Layla Daniel

Several Nieces, Nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Walker were held, Sunday, October 28, 2018, at 2:00 P.M. at Carver Baptist Church in Douglas, Ga., with Rev. Dennis Massie and Rev. Philip Corbean officiating. The Eulogy was given by Mrs. Laverne Carver. Special music included “Sweet Sweet Spirit”, “When the Morning Comes” and “When We All Get to Heaven” rendered by the attending congregation with David McDonald, Aaron Daniel, and Joe Meeks leading and Pam Morris accompanying on the piano. “Goodbye Sweet Goodbye” was rendered by Walter Daniel and Aaron Daniel with Pam Morris accompanying on the piano. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was by Pam Morris, pianist. The interment followed in Carver Baptist Church Cemetery.

Serving as active pallbearers were: Walter Daniel, Paul Daniel, Jason Daniel, Jonathan Daniel, Craig Morris and Darrell Walker.

Honorary pallbearers were Deacons and members of the Men’s Bible Class of Carver Baptist Church.

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
