Chad Leroy Griner

February 10, 1982 — February 7, 2023

Mr. Chad Leroy Griner, age 40 years old, of Axson, Ga. passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, following a battle with Covid-19 and pneumonia.  Chad was born February 10, 1982, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida, son of Hilton Griner and Bonna Faye Hunter Stalvey.  He is preceded in death by his mother, along with his Grandparents; Tommy and Beulah Mae Hunter, and Uncles; J.T. and Tommy Hunter.  

Survivors include:

Sister and Brother-in-Law:  Tammy and Tony Otts

Brother and Sister-in-Law:  George and Angel Murray

Niece:  Cami Johnson

Nephews:  Chase Guess

                John Austin Guess

                Clay Murray

Great Nephews:  Cade Otts

                         Kruz Otts

Great Niece:  Skylin Guess

Uncle and Aunt:  Walter and Jodi Hunter

Extended family includes Clayton and Cheryl Murray, Tommy and Mary Guthrie, Ashley and Adelle Guthrie, Ansley and Courtny Guthrie, Alison and Trey Lowrey, Natalie Whitman and Thea Grae, Phillip and Nikki Guthrie, and Jerry and Tammy Guthrie, along with several cousins.  Chad also leaves behind many friends and co-workers.

Our brother had a larger-than-life personality and a contagious smile.  He loved his family and friends and his beloved dog, Harley.  He was passionate about selling and fixing cars along with many other things.  

Chad will leave a big void in the hearts of his family and everyone that knew him.  He will be loved and missed forever.  

Funeral services for Chad were held, Monday, February 13, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Relihan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Eldridge officiating.  Special memories of Chad were given by Ashley and Tommy Guthrie.  Musical selections included, “The Holy Hills of Heaven” rendered by cd, along with “Tears will Never Stay in the Streets of that City” and “Amazing Grace” both rendered by soloist, Allison Guthrie Lowery accompanied by Rev. David Eldridge on the guitar. 

The interment followed in Antioch Cemetery with special song, “Sheltered in the Arms of Jesus”, by soloist, Allison Guthrie Lowery with Rev. David Eldridge on the guitar.

Serving as active pallbearers were:  Chase Guess, John Austin Guess, Cade Otts, Ashley Guthrie, Ansley Guthrie, and Clay Murray.  Kruz Otts, served as an honorary pallbearer.

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
