Mrs. Carolyn Pharr Smith, age 78, of Pearson and Douglas, Ga. passed away, Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga. following an extended illness.
A native of Belmont, Mississippi, Mrs. Smith was born February 20, l940, daughter of Delbert and Edna Waddell Pharr. She moved to Atkinson County when she was l2 years old. She taught school for 6 years and then started Smith Designs in Douglas, Ga. She was a member of the Douglas Garden Club and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Douglas First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Pharr Mullis.

Husband: Harry Smith of Pearson, Ga.
Son: Wayne Smith and wife June of Douglas, Ga.
2 Daughters: Caroline Roberts and husband Mark of Douglas, Ga.
Harriett Sutton and husband Frank of Nashville, Ga.
Sister: Mary Torelli of Douglas, Ga.
Sister-In-Law: Dot Tucker of Pearson, Ga.
Brother-In-Law: Melvin Davis and wife Lou of Hilton Head, S.C.
7 Grandchildren: Lee Sutton, Kari Sutton, Stephanie Sutton, Ivy Roberts, Michael Roberts, Noah Erdmire, and Staten Smith.
Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Smith were held Sunday, February 17, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Douglas, Ga. with Rev. Shep Johnson and B. J. Holiday officiating. Special musical selections were “Wind Beneath my Wings” rendered by Teresa Holiday with cd accompaniment, “Redeemer” rendered by Laree Vickers with cd accompaniment and “Amazing Grace” rendered by Renee Surrency with Teresa Holiday accompanying at the piano. Soft music for the Prelude and the Postlude was by Teresa Holiday, pianist. The internment followed in Sweetwater Cemetery in Pearson, Ga.
Serving as active pallbearers were: Lee Sutton, Michael Roberts, Jerry Waddell, Pharr Mullis, David Tucker and Leon Tucker.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Douglas Garden Club and the Opel Sunday School Class.
Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
