Rev. Carlie Lastinger, Sr., age 86, of Pearson, Ga. passed away Saturday, January 04, 2020 at his home in Pearson, Ga. following an extended illness.
A native of Pearson, Ga., Rev. Lastinger was born May 14, l933, son of Hugh Edward Lastinger and Epsie Adams. He had made his home in Pearson his entire life and served as Mayor of Pearson from l966 to l968. He worked for many years in the insurance and mobile home business, but his most passionate work was working for the Lord. He was a member of Fellowship of Charismatic Churches and Ministries International (FCCMI), Brunswick, Ga. He played a key role in starting the Atkinson County Ministerial Association where he served as chairman for many years. One of his proudest moments was the purchase of the “Ten Commandments” for every school in the county. He was also the author of three books. He was passionate about his mission work in Haiti, Philippines, Mexico, and Russia. He loved his work as a minister and his dedication to being a Christian and a servant of Christ. The National Day of Prayer was special to him. He felt like it was a privilege and important for the Pastors and School officials to work together to make it happen. One thing he was certain about was his faith. He would always say, WHEN YOU ARE ASKED IF YOU ARE SAVED, YOUR ANSWER SHOULD BE “YES”, NOT HOPE SO, KNOW SO. He was the Patriarch of the Lastinger Family.
