Buddy Edward Corbitt

October 27, 1937 — November 2, 2020

Mr. Buddy Edward Corbitt, age 83, of Pearson, Ga. passed away Monday, November 2, 2020, surrounded by his loving family, at his home following an extended illness.

 

A native and lifelong resident of Atkinson County, Mr. Corbitt was born October 27, l937, son of James Daniel “Bud” and Rena Griffis Corbitt. He was a prominent farmer and longtime member of Ozias Freewill Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, running hounds and spending time with his family.

 

Survivors include:

Wife:  Betty Sue Corbitt of Pearson, Ga.

 

2 Sons:  James Corbitt and wife, Bonnie of Pearson, Ga.

              Jimmy Corbitt and wife, Melissa of Pearson, Ga.

 

2 Daughters:  Barbara Clement and husband, Stanley of Willacoochee, Ga.

                       Jan Mitchell and husband, Johnny of Brunswick, Ga.

 

9 Grandchildren:  John, Reese, Haley and John Thomas Mitchell

                             Gage Corbitt and wife, Shea, Emily Corbitt and Jimmy Cade Corbitt

                             Drew and Bryce Corbitt

 

Great-Grandson:  Jace Corbitt

 

3 Step-Grandchildren, along with several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and other relatives, also survive.

 

Funeral Services for Mr. Corbitt were held, Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Ozias Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Special music “What A Day That Will Be” was rendered by Michael Johnson who accompanied himself on the piano. Prelude and Postlude music was by Michael Johnson, pianist. The interment followed in Ozias Cemetery.

 

Serving as active pallbearers were, Ricky Corbitt, Keith Wright, Michael Disharoon, Bing Hamilton, Nelson Corbitt, and Wesley Corbitt.

 

Honorary pallbearers were Julian Haskins, Harvey Corbitt, Roy Combs, and Harvey Hamilton

 

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
