Aubrey Lee Fender Kirkland

June 18, 1932 — November 18, 2021

Mrs. Aubrey Lee Fender Kirkland, age 89 of Leliaton, Ga. passed away, Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga. following an extended illness.  She was born in Pearson, Ga. on June 18, 1932, daughter of Aubrey Foster and Clara Fussell Fender.  Mrs. Kirkland made her home in the Leliaton area, all her life, where she raised and took care of, not only her family, but also many others in the community, through her career and service of being a Nurse.  She enjoyed living life to the fullest, whether that was by dancing, going to the beach or even bird watching, but her heart was most filled with joy and love when it was spent making memories with her family.  Mrs. Kirkland was a member of Cornerstone Church and was preceded in death, along with her parents, by her husband, Paul Kirkland, Jr. and 3 sisters: Florence Morgan, Marjorie Crosby, and Faye Vickers.

Survivors include:

Son:  John Sheffield and wife, Diane of Evans, Ga.

Daughter:  Joan Sheffield Giddens and husband, Hampton of Pearson, Ga.

Brother:  Bo Fender and wife, Francine of Pearson, Ga.

2 Sisters:  Patricia Kirkland of Pearson, Ga.

                  Betty Metts and husband, Jimmy of Pearson, Ga.

4 Grandchildren:  Heather Sheffield Barrs and husband, Joey

                                Nick Sheffield and wife, Emily

                               Jessica Giddens Hutto and husband, Tim

                               Jasmine Giddens Bell and husband, Tyler

10 Great-Grandchildren:  Sophia, Emily, Jessica & Jeffery Barrs

                                             Lillie, Lucy & Mae Sheffield

                                             Jazah Alieph Hutto

                                             Jack Andrew "Jab" & Gunnar Moses Bell

Graveside services for Mrs. Kirkland were held on Monday, November 22, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Willacoochee City Cemetery in Willacoochee, Ga. with Rev. Allen Arowood, Mrs. Glenda Lang, and Mrs. Heather Barrs officiating.  Special musical selection included “Amazing Grace, My Chains are Gone” rendered by cd.  The interment followed in Willacoochee City Cemetery.

Serving as active pallbearers were:  Nick Sheffield, Jimmy Metts, Justin Fender, Tyler Bell, Tim Hutto and Henry Moore.
