Anna Guthrie Luke Causey

Mrs. Anna Sue Guthrie Luke Causey, age 80 of Willacoochee, Ga., passed away, Friday, November 13, 2020 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Ga. following a short illness.

Born January 7, l940, in Willacoochee, Ga., Mrs. Causey was the daughter of the late Gerald and Mabel Tanner Guthrie. She had made her home in this area for most of her life and was a member of Westside Holiness Church. She operated a Thrift Store for many years in Pearson and was also a homemaker. She loved to treasure hunt, was a veracious reader and loved to be with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Norman “Buddy” Luke, her second husband, Ray Causey, two brothers, Rev. Willie Guthrie and Royce Guthrie and a sister, Geraldine Sears.

Survivors include:

2 Sons:  James Wesley Luke and wife, Rosa of Waycross, Ga.

              Randall Luke and wife, Bertha of Douglas, Ga.

 

3 Daughters:  Lynne Vickers of Willacoochee, Ga.

                      Christine Lee and husband, Gary of Terrell, Tx.

                      Charity Luke and fiancé, John Luke of Ty Ty, Ga.

 

3 Brothers:  Bill Guthrie and wife, Marie of Marietta, Ga.

                    Sammy Guthrie and wife, Doris of Pearson, Ga.

                    Bobby Guthrie and wife, Karen of Douglas, Ga.

 

2 Sisters:  Margaret Smith and husband, Herschell of Pearson, Ga

                 Faith Bennett and husband, Grady of Pearson, Ga.

20 Grandchildren along with several Great-Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Causey were held, Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Westside Holiness Church in Douglas, Ga. with Rev. Steve Gentry, Rev. Herschell Smith and Rev. Johnny Woods officiating. Special music included, “Don’t Let Me Stumble” a CD recorded by Mrs. Causey, I’m so Glad Salvation is Free”  by daughter, Lynne Vickers, “I Can Only Imagine” by Tammy Altman and Allison Lowery, “Over The Last Hill We’ll Be Home” by CD and “What a Happy Day” by Sammy and Doris Guthrie, Bobby Guthrie and Margaret Smith. Accompaniment, Prelude and Postlude music was by Allison Lowery, pianist.  The interment followed in Riverside Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Berrien County.

Serving as active pallbearers were, Tommy Guthrie, Jerry Guthrie, Paul Guthrie, Andy Harper, Tony Harper and Dwight Guthrie.  Honorary pallbearers were Phillip Guthrie, Robbie Guthrie, and Trey Bennett.

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
