Nell Sheffield McCranie

Mrs. Alice Nell Sheffield McCranie, age 97 of Willacoochee, Ga. went home to be with the Lord, Friday, August 7, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. McCranie was born July 31, l923 in West Armuchee, Ga., daughter of Claude Randall Sheffield and Blanche McWilliams Sheffield. She moved to Willacoochee in l946.  She was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed traveling, walking, dark chocolate and was an avid Braves fan. She was also a former member of the Women’s Club, Garden Club, and the lady’s group at church. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Willacoochee for more than 50 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Baker McCranie, sister, Laura Nix and brothers, Mac Sheffield, John Sheffield, and C. R. Sheffield.

Survivors include:

Son:  James Baker “Jim” McCranie and wife Loretta of Willacoochee, Ga.

Daughter:  Margaret Ann “Peggy” McCranie of Willacoochee, Ga.

Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. McCranie were held on Sunday, August 09, 2020, at 2:00 P.M. in the McCranie Family Cemetery in Willacoochee, Ga. with Rev. Bill Huffstuttler and Rev. Joseph Lee officiating. Special music included “Serenaded by Angels” rendered by Pam Huffstuttler with CD accompaniment and “Rock of Ages” rendered by Sherry Music and an instrumental CD of piano music recorded by her late friend, Cranford Sutton, pianist.   The interment followed in the McCranie Family Cemetery in Willacoochee, Ga.

Serving as active pallbearers were, Randy Sheffield, George McCranie, Bill McCranie, Steve Sheffield,

John Sheffield and Greg Carter,

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
