Mrs. Lura Batten Relihan age 57 of Brunswick, Ga.formerly of Pearson, Ga. passed away Saturday, January 9, 2010 at her home following a long illness. A native of Sacramento County, Calif. Mrs. Relihan was born December 7, l952 daughter of Nerle and Billye Batten. She had made her home in Brunswick for the past 26 years and was of the Baptist Faith. She was a l970 honor graduate of Atkinson County High School and had worked as an editor for the Glenn Press before becoming disabled several years ago. Survivors include: Husband: John Relihan of Brunswick, Ga. 1 Son: Josh Relihan of Brunswick, Ga. 1 Grandchild: Madison Relihan of Brunswick, Ga. Parents: Nerle and Billye Batten of Pearson, Ga. 3 Brothers: Norman Batten of Douglas, Ga. David Batten and wife Eugenia of Bowden, Ga. Russell Batten and wife Margaret of Perry, Fl. 2 Sisters: Sandy Hersey and husband Kenneth of Douglas, Ga. Nancy Measels and husband Mark of Douglasville, Ga. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Relihan were held Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Wesley Chapel Holiness Baptist Church with Rev. H.P. Murray officiating. Special musical selections included "Sweet Bye and Bye" rendered by soloist Mark Measels with Patty Spivey accompanying at the piano and "Amazing Grace" was presented by the attending congregation with Patty Spivey at the piano. Patty Spivey pianist played soft music for the Prelude and the Postlude. The interment followed in Royals Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were: Donovan Batten, Shane Hersey, David Batten, Russell Batten, Gerald Corbitt, and Vance Peterson.
