Mrs. Mattilue Corbitt Smith age 77 of Pearson, Ga. passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at her residence following an extended illness. A native of Atkinson County, Georgia, Mrs. Smith was born December 20, 1932 the daughter of Lester and Mattie Douglas Corbitt. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Henry Smith Sr., 2 sons, Lester Smith and Willie Smith and a daughter, Martha Smith. Survivors include: 1 Son: Henry Smith, Jr. and wife Debbie of Pearson, Ga. 4 Daughters: Julia Smith Vining and husband Charlie of Pearson, Ga. Elaine Smith of Pearson, Ga. Susan Smith Garrity and husband Bob of Pearson, Ga. Roxie Smith Purvis and husband Allie of Pearson, Ga. 15 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Smith were at 4:00 P.M., Friday, October 1, 2010 at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Fussell, Rev. Jimmy Futch and Rev. Ed Gilliard officiating. Special music included "Amazing Grace" rendered acappella by the attending congregation. Soft music for the Prelude and the Postlude was played by Betty Smith pianist. The interment followed in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were grandsons: Charlie Vining, Jr., Jason Vining, Mark Vining, Henry Smith III, Manning Smith and Bobby Garrity.
