Mr. James Claxton age 96 of Pearson, Ga. passed away early Sunday morning at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga. following an extended illness. A native of Soperton, Ga., Mr. Claxton was born on October 1, 1914, son of William and Betty Davis Claxton. He worked in construction for many years before retiring and was a member of The Pearson Church of God of Prophecy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Anderson Claxton. Survivors include: Several Nieces and Nephews Funeral services for Mr. Claxton were held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at the Church of God of Prophecy in Pearson, Ga. with Rev. Hardy Crosby, Rev. Clyde Bennett, and Rev. Leonard Pittman officiating. Special music selections included "I've Got A Mansion" rendered by Rita Spikes with piano accompaniment and "I Know My Redeemer Lives" rendered by Allen Jewell with cd accompaniment and "Amazing Grace" rendered by the attending congregation with Rita Spikes on the piano. Soft music for Prelude and Postlude was provided by Rita Spikes, pianist. The interment followed in Royals Cemetery in Pearson, Ga. Serving as active pallbearers were Brian Schotch, James Frost, Allen Jewell, Kevin Batten, JW Anderson, Timothy Anderson. Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
