Thomas Nathaniel Wells

Mr. Thomas Wells, age 71 of Pearson, Ga. passed away Monday, July 11, 2011 at Southeast Georgia Health Systems in Brunswick, Ga. following a short illness. A native of Atkinson County, Ga., Mr. Wells was born on April 12, 1940, son of Harry and Bertha Douglas Wells. He was a retired farmer, an avid outdoorsman and was well known for his ability to work with and train horses and mules. He was a member of Sweetwater United Methodist Church and a faithful attendee of the Sunday morning men's breakfast group. Mr. Wells was preceded in death by a brother, Levonne Wells and a sister, Shirley Garner. Survivors include: 2 Sons: Nathan Wells and wife Tanya of Nahunta, Ga. Wayne Williams and wife Regina of Jacksonville, Ga. 3 Daughters: Tomi Jean Veazie of Brunswick, GA. Tammy Jump and husband Tom of Brunswick, Ga. Donna Jones of Hilliard, Fl. 1 Brother: Fred Wells of Nahunta, Ga. 4 Sisters: Linda Garner and husband Doyle of Pearson, Ga. Wanda May and husband Johnny of Camilla, Ga. Ernestine Tomberlin and husband Jim of Cairo, Ga. Becky Lenge of Brunswick, Ga. 24 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Wells were held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Sweetwater United Methodist Church in Pearson, Ga. with Rev. Edgar Musgrove and Rev. Frank Littleton officiating. Special musical selections included "The Family That Prays" and "I'll Fly Away" rendered by, The Sweetwater Creek Singers. Soft music for the prelude and postlude was provided by The Sweetwater Creek Singers. The interment followed in Sunnyside Cemetery with the congregation singing "Amazing Grace" accompanied by DQ Pittman on guitar and Cleveland Register on harmonica. Serving as active pallbearers were: Jeff May, Frank Wells, John Smith, Joey Butler, Garret Akins, Eric Butler, Cleveland Register, Eddie Tomberlin and Kevin Jones. Serving as honorary pallbearer was: Randy Sirmans Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
