Mrs. Luvelle Davis Mullis age 91 of Axson, GA. passed away Monday, October 14, 2013 at her home in Axson following an extended illness. Born November 23, l921 in Axson, GA., Mrs. Mullis was the daughter of the late Orbie D. and Inez Corbitt Davis. She had served on the Atkinson County DEFACS Board for many years and was also a substitute teacher for many years. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and visiting her many friends. She was a faithful wife, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She also loved her cats. She was a member of the Axson Church of God of Prophecy and until her death was the oldest living member. She was preceded in death by her husband Horace Mullis and 5 brothers Lee L. Davis, Vernell Davis, Billy Davis, Elton Davis, and Marion (Buck) Davis. Survivors Include: 2 Sons: Freddy Mullis and wife Judy of Talking Rock, GA. Don Mullis and wife Kim of Axson, GA. 1 Daughter: Pat Glisson and husband Randy of Baxley, GA. 1 Brother: Orbie Davis, Jr. and wife Carole of Waycross, GA. 4 Sisters: Jean Joyner and husband Albert of Waycross, GA. Mary Ann Zorn and husband Bill of Axson, GA. Delores Bennett and husband Huey of Millwood, GA. Evelyn Steele of Waycross, GA. 6 Grandchildren: Brandon Mullis and wife Elizabeth, Jana Mullis, Jonathon Nugent and wife Kelli, Brian Nugent, Stacy Mullis, and Jennifer Hunter and husband Bobby. 7 Great Grandchildren: Railyn Mullis, Riley Mullis, Jadyn Nugent, Jessalyn Nugent, Jazmine Hunter, Zach Hunter, and Wesley Hunter. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Mullis will be held at 2:00 P. M. Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Axson Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Eric McClellan, Rev. Chris Boyd, and Rev. Clayton Davis officiating. The interment will follow in the Axson Cemetery. Visitation for Mrs. Mullis will be at the Axson Church of God of Prophecy in Axson, GA. from 6 to 9 P. M. this evening Tuesday October 15, 2013. Serving as active pallbearers are: Brandon Mullis, Jonathan Nugent, Brian Nugent, Tommy Spikes, Ricky Davis, and Steve Bennett. Honorary pallbearers will be: Jerry Mullis, Harry Mullis, Willis Blacknall, Lavonne Mullis, Herman Storey, H.F. Mizell, Lamar Mullis, Larry Burch, Marvin McDaniel, Bobby Thrift, Ronnie Hardee, Stan Lang, Justin Bennett, and Mitchell Deems.
