OBITUARY MR. PATRICK MICHAEL NUGENT Mr. Patrick Michael Nugent, age 65, of Kirkland, Ga. passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga. following a short illness. A native of Newnan, Ga., Mr. Nugent was born, February 17, 1949, son of Patrick William and Christine Phillips Nugent. After 15 years, he retired as a Ranger with the Department of Natural Resources. Mr. Nugent served as Deputy Sheriff for Atkinson County and was a farmer. He was an active member of the Kirkland United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday School Teacher, Church Clerk and Lay Leader. Mr. Nugent was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. Survivors include: Wife: Jeannette Theresa DeCosta Nugent of Kirkland, Ga. 1 Son: Lester William Nugent of Kirkland, Ga. 3 Daughters: Eileen Christine Nugent McClelland of Pearson, Ga. Theresa Michelle Nugent Lott and husband Chad of Willacoochee, Ga. Heidi Jeannette Nugent Wilkinson of Kirkland, Ga. 3 Brothers: Bernard Nugent and wife Faye of Douglas, Ga. Robin Nugent and wife Vicki of Kirkland, Ga. David Nugent and wife Cindy of Kirkland, Ga. 2 Sisters: Kathy Waldroup and husband Roy of Nicholls, Ga. JoAnn May and husband Gary of Axson, Ga. 9 Grandchildren: Autumn Nugent, Allie McClelland, Lawton Nugent, Carson Wilkinson, Laney Lott, Brylan Wilkinson, Jayden Lott, Edith Claire Wilkinson, and Miley Lott 1 Great-Grandchild: Annie Delk Sister-in-law: Nannette Wood and husband Carl of Pearson, Ga. Brother-in-law: John Decosta and wife Nancy of Pearson, Ga. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Nugent were held, Sunday, August 17, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kirkland United Methodist Church with Rev. Marvin Goodman officiating. Special musical selections included, "In the Garden: rendered by Arlene Morris and Tammy Wood, accompanied by Charles Wood on the guitar and "I'll Fly Away" rendered by Charles Wood, Tammy Wood and Arlene Morris with Charles Wood accompanying on the guitar. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was provided by Margaret Williams, pianist. Serving as active pallbearers were: David Nugent, Robin Nugent, John DeCosta, Carl Wood, Roy Waldroup, Brad West and Jayden Lott. Serving as honorary pallbearers were: Kirkland United Methodist Church Family. The interment followed in Kirkland United Methodist Church Cemetery with military honors rendered by U.S. Navy Honor Guard Contingent and the Department of Natural Resources Honor Guard.
