Mr. John T. Spivey age 65 of Eastman, Ga. formerly of Pearson, Ga. passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, Ga. following a brief illness. Born October 11, l948 in Columbus, Ga. Mr. Spivey was the son of Thomas J. and Minnie Lee Widner Spivey. He had worked in Insurance sales for many years and before retiring worked at Walmart Distribution Center. He also volunteered at State Parks in his free time. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was of the Catholic Faith. Survivors include: 3 Sons: Tim Spivey of Elba, Alabama John Henry Spivey of Holley-Navarre, Fl. Travis Spivey of Holley-Navarre, Fl. Mother: Minnie Lee Shuman of Midway, Ga. 1 Brother: Henry Spivey of Valdosta, Ga. 5 Sisters: Joyce German of New Braunfels, Tx. Diane Williams of New Flagler Beach, Fl. Debra Barrett of Abbeville, Ga. Martha Spivey of Cincinnati, Ohio Ann Barnhardt of Covington, Ga. 4 Grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other relatives also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Spivey were held Friday, September 26, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. with Father Paul O'Connell officiating. A special poem written by his sister Ann was read at the service. The interment followed in Holy Family Cemetery with Military Honors rendered at the graveside by a U. S. Navy Honor Guard contingent from the U. S. Navy Base in Albany, Ga.. Serving as active pallbearers were: Gary Williams, Michael Elswick, Ronnie Hardee, Max McCullough, Joseph Spivey, and Stephan Henson.
