Helen Euvon Gurley

Mrs. Helen Euvon Gurley, age 77 of Axson, Ga. passed away Monday, October 27, 2014 at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga. following an extended illness. A native of Coffee County, Mrs. Gurley was born, March 1, 1937, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe and Mamie Mathews Crosby. She was a seamstress, homemaker, good cook and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Gurley was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Mamie Crosby, 3 Brothers: Clifford Crosby, R.T. Crosby and Eugene Crosby, 2 Sisters: Laverne Roberts and Lorene Carver and a Daughter in Law: Christine Gurley. Survivors include: Husband: Clovis Gurley of Axson, Ga. 4 Sons: Darona Gurley and wife Melanie of Pearson, Ga. Elden Gurley of Douglas, Ga. Ricky Gurley and wife Melanie of Axson, Ga. Stanley Gurley and wife Robin of Pearson, Ga. 2 Daughters: Teresa Seymour of Pearson, Ga. Sharon Gurley of Axson, Ga. 3 Sisters: Genell Wilson and husband Melvin of Douglas, Ga. Janie Giddens of Pearson, Ga. Tessie Burch and husband Ronald Gene of Axson, Ga. 14 Grandchildren, 18 Great-Grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Gurley were held, Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Zion Church Cemetery with Rev. William Pope officiating. Special musical numbers included, "Go Rest High on that Mountain" and "Amazing Grace", rendered by c.d. The interment followed in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were: Charles Sutton, Steve Marchman, Roger Giddens, Ronnie Taft, Willie Wilson and Craig Gurley.
