OBITUARY MRS. BRUSTA WILLIAMS Mrs. Brusta Joseph Williams, age 81 of Pearson, Ga. passed away Monday, November 17, 2014 at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga. following an extended illness. A native of Pearson, Ga., Mrs. Williams was born, September 18, 1933, the third child of Mr. and Mrs. William Bruce and Ruth Gordon Joseph. Although, raised in Akron, Ohio, she returned to Pearson when she was a teenager and finished her education in the Atkinson County School System. Brusta connected herself with St. James A.M.E. Church at an early age. She knew that she had a charge to keep and a God to glorify. She loved her God and her relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved her church and served tirelessly and willingly in many capacities: namely, Sunday School Superintendent, Steward and Stewardess Boards, Pulpit Aid, Pastor's Aid, Finance Committee, Senior Usher Board, Missionary and Lay Organization, 2008 Faithful Service Award. She was also a member of the Atkinson County Community Choir under the direction of Rev. Bernard Benson, Class Leader and The Willing Workers Club. "Miss Brusta" (affectionately called) was an active member of St. James until her health failed. She was preceded in death by a brother, James Lawrence Joseph and one sister, Carolyn J. Battle. She leaves to cherish her memory: Son: Charles Lawrence Williams of Anchorage, Al 5 Sisters: Ida Hill of Righteous Town, Maryland Christine Lewis of Temple Hill, Maryland Marjorie Borrero of Pearson, Ga. Gloria Ferrell of Pearson, Ga. Barbara Roach of Alexandria, Va. A host of several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and other relatives and sorrowing friends. Homegoing services for Miss Brusta were held Sunday, November 23, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at St. James A.M.E. Church in Pearson, Ga. with Rev. Evan William and Rev. Sherman Childers officiating. Many loving and fond memories of Miss Brusta were shared by those in attendance. The interment followed in the Pearson City Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were: Bro. Jake Relihan, Bro. Ostella Pope, Bro. Theodis Harris, Bro. Larry Dunlap, Bro. Bailey Odum and Bro. Payton Odum. Serving as honorary pallbearers were: Nephews of Miss Brusta and Bro. George Relihan. Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. and McIver Funeral Home in Douglas, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
