Mary Ruth Batten

Mrs. Mary Ruth Batten, age 72 of Axson, Ga. passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at her home in Axson, Ga. following an extended illness. A native of Atkinson County Mrs. Batten was born February 12, l943 daughter of the late Sherman and Rachel Gilbert Merritt. She was a homemaker and she was preceded in death by her husband Mr. Bobby Batten. Survivors include: Son: Michael Batten and wife Patricia of Axson, Ga. Daughter: Karen Bagley of Axson, Ga. Regina Royals of Axson, Ga. Sister: Linda Brogdon of Pearson, Ga. 6 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren, and several Nieces, Nephews, and other relatives also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Batten were held Friday, July 24, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Relihan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Brown officiating. Special musical selections included "When I get Where I'm Going", "Welcome Home", and "Mama's Teaching Angels How To Sing" rendered by C.D.. The interment followed in Axson Cemetery in Axson, Ga.. Serving as active pallbearers were: Don Mullis, Aaron Royals, Derrick Newcomb, Darrell Pittman, Mackie Smith, and Shane Hall.
