Mr. Ray Steverson, age 65 of Willacoochee, Ga. passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015 at his home in Willacoochee, Ga. following an extended illness. Born October 27, l949 in Berrien County, Mr. Steverson was the son of Allie Thomas and Minnie Floyd Steverson. He worked as a maintenance supervisor at Willacoochee Industrial Fabrics until poor health forced his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and looking for arrowheads. He also enjoyed anything to do with any type of machinery. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Willacoochee, Ga.. He was preceded in death by 2 infant sons, Charles Ray Steverson, Jr. and Gregory Steverson. Survivors include: Wife: Gloria Steverson of Willacoochee, Ga. Son: Kevin Steverson and wife Laura of Willacoochee, Ga. 2 Daughters: Nikki Wetherington and husband Chris of Willacoochee, Ga. Jennifer Williams and husband Jeff of Nashville, Ga. 2 Brothers: Billy Steverson and wife Louise of Alapaha, Ga. Lamar Steverson and wife Gail of Jacksonville, Fl. Sister: Nellie Smith of Callahan, Fl. 6 Grandchildren: Sydney Steverson, Katherine Williams, Nathan White, Slade White, Rachel White, and Christin Wetherington. Several Nieces, Nephews, and other relatives also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Steverson were held Monday, October 19, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Willacoochee First Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Joiner officiating. The Eulogy was given by Jimmy Mathis. Special musical selections included "Stroll over Heaven", "One Day at a Time" and "Go Rest High on That Mountain" rendered by soloist Jason Hunkapiller with taped accompaniment. Soft music for the Prelude and the Postlude was played by Meagan Joiner pianist. The interment followed in Willacoochee City Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were: Reid Dillingham, Neal Floyd, Steve Scott, Jimmy Mathis, Tony Lanier and Mike Duggan. Honorary pallbearers were: Junior Cooper, David Floyd and Quinton Dillingham.
