Mr. Richard Geiger, age 74 of Axson, Ga. passed away Saturday, September 10, 2016 at his home in Axson, Ga. after an extended illness. Born September 20, 1941 in Lyons, Ga., Mr. Geiger was the son of Jonas and Mary Elizabeth White Spikes. He had made his home in Atkinson County (Axson) most of his life and was of the Christian faith. He was retired from Brockway Container in Homerville where he worked in the tool and die department as a machinist. He loved to be outdoors, where he enjoyed fishing, camping, wood working, and spending time with family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Talisa Hope Durrance, a sister, Becky Brindley and brother, Harvey Geiger. Survivors include: Wife: Juanita Lee Geiger of Axson, Ga. 3 Daughters: Mrs. Cynthia White and husband Randall of Axson, Ga. Mrs. Carol Durrance and husband Johnny “J.D.” of Pearson, Ga. Mrs. Maxine Corbitt and husband Gene “Yeller” of Axson, Ga. 3 Grandchildren: Richard Wade Carver and wife Haley of Pearson, Ga. Kevin Davis of Axson, Ga. Sharee Corbitt Combs and husband Chris of Millwood, Ga. 5 Great-Grandchildren: Mackenzie and Bayli Carver Salah Durrance Gene and Claire Combs Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Geiger were held Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 4:00 P.M. at the Axson Church of God of Prophecy in Axson, Ga. with Rev. Britt Peavey officiating. The Eulogy and shared memories were given by Mrs. Sue White, a special friend of the Geiger family. Special musical selections included “Falling Leaves” and “I Want to Stoll over Heaven with You” was presented by cd. Prelude and Postlude music was rendered by cd. The internment followed in the Axson Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were: Andy Royals, Jeffrey White, David Burch, Mike Williams, Larry Corbitt, Barry Cox and Derryl Lee. Honorary pallbearers were: Hinky Mathews, Ray Combs, George White, Roy Burkett, Jerry Burch, Denzel Adams and Claude “Doddle” White. Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
