Mrs. Glenda M. McCrea, age 68 of Willacoochee, Ga. passed away Sunday, October 09, 2016 at Clinch Healthcare Center in Homerville, Ga. after an extended illness. A native of Douglas, Ga., Mrs. McCrea was born March l6, l948, daughter of Ted and Ruth Harper Mercer. She worked for many years at Cady Bag Industries in Pearson, Ga. and Coats & Clark in Douglas, Ga.. For the past several years she had been a homemaker and enjoyed staying at home and looking after her beloved dog, Lady. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Willacoochee, Ga.. Survivors include: Husband: Johnny McCrea of Willacoochee, Ga. Son: Charlie McCrea of Valdosta, Ga. Daughter: Shannon McCrea Smith and husband Jonathon of Fernandina Beach, Fl. Granddaughter: Chole Smith of Fernandina Beach, Fl. Sister: Peggy Mercer of Douglas, Ga. Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. McCrea were held Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at the Willacoochee First Baptist Church in Willacoochee, Ga. with Rev. Bill Huffstuttler officiating. Special musical selections included “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Now I Belong to Jesus” was rendered by the Church Choir with Bonnie Kunberger accompanying at the piano. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was played by Bonnie Kunberger, pianist. The internment followed in the Willacoochee City Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were: Phillip Knowles, John Lindsey, Jerry Burch, Edsel Lewis, Jimmy McCrea and David Floyd. Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
