H.F. Sears

Mr. Hiram Franklin (H. F.) Sears, age 85 of Pearson, Ga. passed away Sunday, November 06, 2016 at Lumber City Nursing and Rehab Center in Lumber City, Ga. following an illness of several months.   A native of Atkinson County, Mr. Sears was born August 18, l931, son of Hiram F. Sears, Jr. and Myrtle Hodges Lentz.  He was a U. S. Air Force veteran of World War II and after serving two enlistments he went to work with the U. S. Civil Service retiring after 30 plus years in l979.  He served as an Atkinson County Commissioner from l980 to l984 and was a member of Satilla Masonic Lodge #l63 F&AM. He loved the outdoors and was an avid deer and turkey hunter. He was of the Baptist Faith.   Survivors include: Wife:  Rita Buchan Sears of Pearson, Ga. Son:  Frank Sears and wife Mary of Gray, Ga. Daughter:  Beverly Lynn Peterson and husband Wayne of Broxton, Ga. 4 Grandchildren:  Kyle Sears                              Derek Sears                              Kendra Kight                              Justin Peterson and wife Meredith   Soon to be Great-Grandchild:  Hiram Peterson   Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive. Graveside funeral services for Mr. Sears were held Wednesday, November 09, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Union Hill Church Cemetery with Rev. Hardy Crosby officiating. Special memories were an audio recording made by Mr. Sears l0 years ago. Special musical selections included “What a Day That will Be” rendered acapella by soloist Glenda Lang and “Outskirts of Heaven” presented by cd. The internment followed in the Union Hill Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by an Honor Guard Contingent from Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta, Ga.. Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
