Mrs. Louella Andrews Cartwright, age 92 of Pearson, Ga. passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Satilla Hospice House in Waycross, Ga. following an extended illness. A native of Coffee County, Mrs. Cartwright was born February 23, l924, daughter of William Henry and Lucy Ella Mathis Andrews. She worked as a Paraprofessional with the Atkinson County School System for l5 years and was a member of the teacher’s retirement association. She also worked with Atkinson County Home Health Care for l8 years. She loved to work in her yard, especially her flower gardens. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Pearson for 63 years, where she was active in the WMU and taught Sunday school. Survivors include: Son: Michael David Cartwright and wife Darcy of Axson, Ga. Daughter: Eloise Atkinson of Murphy, N.C. 3 Grandchildren: Kathy Freyman and husband Mark of Montgomery, Al. Greg Erwin and wife Jennifer of Jacksonville, Fl. Samatha Devves and husband Paul of Jacksonville, Fl. 5 Great-Grandchildren: Carrie Lynn Hines, Marcus Hines, Avery Erwin, Alex Erwin and Max Devves Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Cartwright were held Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church in Pearson, Ga. with Rev. Chris Carpenter, Rev. Bob Pierce, and Rev. Jerry Worzella officiating. Special musical selections included “Nearer to the Heart of God” and “I Need the Every Hour” rendered by soloist Dr. Diskin Morgan with Candace Brown accompanying at the piano. Soft music for the Prelude and the Postlude was by Candace Brown organist. The internment followed in Sweetwater Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were: William White, Marcus Hines, Timothy Stinson, Willard Andrews, Mark Freyman and L. H. James. Honorary pallbearers were: Foster Davis, Wade Brown, Ashley Vickers, Fred Wilson, Travis Ursery, Dennis Erwin, Jerry Dean Merritt, and Jimmy Dell Cribb. Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
