Shirley Mae Cooper

Mrs. Shirley Cooper, age 78 of Axson, Ga. passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga. following an extended illness. A native of Henderson, Tenn., Mrs. Cooper was born May 8, l938, daughter of Willard and Florence Onie Tidwell Stansell. She had made her home in Atkinson County for most of her life.  She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, David Cooper. Survivors include: 3 Sons:  Glenn David Cooper and wife Dommie of Douglas, Ga.               Bobby Gene Cooper and wife Ruby of Willacoochee, Ga.               Darryl Allen Cooper and wife Lois of Axson, Ga. 4 Daughters:   Annie Taylor of Pearson, Ga.                         Lavonne Reliford of Pearson, Ga.                         Janice Wright of Axson, Ga.                         Patricia Cato of Pearson, Ga. 2 Brothers:  Bobby Joe Stansell of Beach Bluff, Tn.                     David Lloyd Stansell of Henderson, Tn. Sister:  Brenda Sue Stansell of Henderson, Tn. 16 Grandchildren, 65 Great Grandchildren, 13 Great-Great Grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive. Funeral Services for Mrs. Cooper were held Thursday, November l7, 2016 at 3:00 P. M. at the Willacoochee Church of God with Rev. Levi Jones officiating. Special music included “If There is a Phone in Heaven” presented by cd and “Send me Your Best Angel” and “Go Rest High on that Mountain” rendered by the Courdle Family.  Soft music for the Prelude and the Postlude was by the Courdle Family. The interment followed in the Willacoochee City Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were:  Toby Roberts, Larry Taylor, Benny Reliford, Blain Jackson, David Stansell and Dion Stewart. Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
