Mrs. Mary Lou Lee, age 84 of Willacoochee, Ga. passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Ga. following a short illness. A native of Berrien County, Mrs. Lee was born November 3, l932, daughter of Ruben and Idell Hendley Exum. She had lived in Willacoochee for most of her life. She worked for many years with the city of Willacoochee as secretary of the Police Department, Willacoochee Public Library, and Director of Old Fashion Day. She also worked as a teacher’s aide for the Atkinson County School System for many years and at J. P. Stephens textile mill in Tifton, Ga. She was very active in the Willacoochee Senior Citizens Center. Her outside interest included a passion for square dancing and working in her yard. Her church membership was at the First Baptist Church in Willacoochee, Ga., but she also attended Sunnyside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gerald Lee and her second husband Wade Swails. Survivors include: Son: Tommy Lee and wife Patricia of Nashville, Ga. 3 Daughters: Dianne Blair of Bonaire, Ga. Gerry Smith of Nashville, Ga. Michele Lee of Nashville, Ga. Sister: Johnnie Ruth Hooper and husband Jeff of Westminster, Md. 11 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive. Funeral Services for Mrs. Lee were held Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at the Willacoochee First Baptist Church in Willacoochee, Ga. with Rev. Teddy Burch officiating. Special musical selections included, “Blessed Assurance”, “What a Day That Will Be” and “Amazing Grace” rendered by the attending congregation with Bonnie Kunberger accompanying at the piano. Soft Prelude and Postlude music was by Bonnie Kunberger, pianist. The interment followed in the Willacoochee City Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were: Tom Lee, Adam McMillan, Ty Harper, Will McMillan, Marshall McMillan, B. J. Warren and Dylan Sneddon. Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
