Donald L. Bowen

Mr. Donald L. Bowen, age 77 of Pearson, Ga. passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017 at his home in Pearson, Ga. following an extended illness.   A native of Atkinson County, Mr. Bowen was born February 28, 1940, son of Clarence and Ella Anderson Bowen. He had made his home in Atkinson County for most of his life and worked for many years for Ferrell Gas Co.. After retiring he enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He was a member of Old Prospect Baptist Church in Fitzgerald, Ga. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Summerlin Bowen.   Survivors include: 2 Sons: Joe Bowen of Pearson, Ga.             Don Bowen of Alma, Ga.   Daughter: Rita Mitchell and husband Charles of Valley Head, Al.   Brother: Edward Bowen of Fitzgerald, Ga.   Sister: Dorothy Spikes and husband J.C. of Fitzgerald, Ga.   3 Grandchildren: Christopher Mitchell of Louisville, Ky.                              Candace Mitchell of New York, N.Y.                              Taylor Mitchell of Valley Head, Al.   Care giver: Cheryl Dailey of Pearson, Ga.   Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.   Graveside funeral services for Mr. Bowen were held Monday, March 20, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at New Bethel Cemetery near Pearson, Ga. with Rev. Christopher Mitchell and Rev. J.A. Anderson officiating. The interment followed in New Bethel Cemetery.   Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
