Carl Wendell Wood

Mr. Carl Wendell Wood passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017 at his home in Pearson, Ga.   A native of Pearson, Ga., Mr. Wood was born June 20, l961, son of James Wendell and Nancy Taft Wood. He worked for many years at Georgia-Pacific in Pearson and later as a mechanic at Trans Power in Douglas, Ga. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his special niece Annie Delk. He also liked football, being outdoors and fishing. He was an active member of Kirkland United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School, played guitar and enjoyed singing in church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Cook, a brother, Charles Wood and a Brother in Law, Patrick Nugent.   Mr. Wood is survived by his loving wife Nannette Wood of Pearson, Ga., his brother Jimmy Dale Wood and wife Sandra of Adel, Ga., his 3 sisters Cynthia Dillingham and husband Kevin of Axson, Ga., Willean Dell and husband Jerry of Axson, Ga., and Wylene Vickers and husband Gary of Axson, Ga. He is also survived by his 2 sisters-in-law Tammy Wood of Axson, Ga., Jeannette Nugent of Kirkland, Ga., his brother-in-law John Decosta and wife Nancy of Willacoochee, Ga., his special Niece Annie Delk, and his beloved pet, “Buddy”. Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.   Funeral Services for Mr. Wood were held Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Kirkland United Methodist Church, Ga. with Rev. Edward Mathews, Bishop Steve Sirmans and Rev. Frank Littleton officiating. Special music included “How Great Thou Art” rendered by Tammy Wood, Ellie Hoopiiaina and Tim Wood (Guitar) and “My Chains Are Gone” rendered by soloist, Tim Wood (Piano). Soft music for the prelude and postlude was played by Tim Wood, pianist. The interment followed in the Kirkland Methodist Church Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were: Charlton Gillis, David Nugent, Gary Vickers, Edward Mathews, John Decosta and Steve Adams.   Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
