Mrs. Gertie Sears Adams, age 101 of Axson, Ga. passed away Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Baptist Village in Waycross, Ga. following a short illness. A native of Ware County, Mrs. Adams was born September 27, l9l5, daughter of Dennis and Lucy Rowell Sears. She had made her home in the Axson community for most of her life and was a homemaker. She attended the Axson Church of God of Prophecy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clint Adams, son, Spence Adams, 3 grandsons, Blake Leavens, Timmy Fulmer and Paul Fulmer, 2 sisters, Hazel Roling and Russie Gillard. Survivors include: 1 Son: Denzel Adams, and wife Rose, of Waycross, Ga 2 Daughters: Eloise Davis of Fairfax, Ga. Lucy Fulmer of Douglasville, Ga. 3 Sisters: Phenita Rife of Texas Geneva O’steen of Alma, Ga. Helen Roling, and husband Edward, of Lake City, Fl. 9 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. Funeral Services for Mrs. Adams were held Sunday, June 25, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Axson Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Chris Boyd officiating. Special music included “Precious Memories” and “Amazing Grace” rendered by Loretta Boyd (Keyboards) and Newton Cox (Guitar). Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was played by Loretta Boyd at the keyboards. The interment followed in the Axson Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were: Johnny Burch, Larry Burch, Loy Gillard, Ray Sears, Ricky Sears and Marvin McDaniel. Honorary pallbearers were: Lewis Gurley and Layton Sears. Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. is in charge of the arrangements.
