Lorraine McGovern

Mrs. Lorraine Mancil McGovern, age 95 of Willacoochee, Ga. passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at Shady Acres Health and Rehab in Douglas, Ga following an extended illness.   A native of Atkinson County, Mrs. McGovern was born April 6, l922, daughter of Willie and Lilly Summerlin Mancil. She had made her home in the Willacoochee area for most of her life. She was a homemaker and loved to work in her yard, especially her flower gardens. She was a longtime member of Sunnyside Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry McGovern, 2 sons, Tom McGovern and Willie McGovern, a granddaughter, Gina McGovern and a great grandson, Dustin Taylor.   Survivors include: 2 Daughters:    Edwina Taylor and husband Gary of Brunswick, Ga.                            Linda Stapleton of Douglas, Ga   10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, and other relatives also survive.   Funeral services for Mrs. McGovern were held Friday, July 07, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Sunnyside Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Teddy Burch and Rev. Den Weniger officiating. Special music included “What a Day That Will Be” rendered by her granddaughter, Kelcey McGovern with Marjorie McGovern accompanying at the piano and “Amazing Grace” was presented by the attending congregation with Lila Deems accompanying at the piano. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was played by Lila Deems pianist. The interment followed in the Sunnyside Church Cemetery.   Serving as active pallbearers were: Ray McGovern, Brandy McGovern, Donnie Taylor, Kevin McGovern, Mandy McGovern and Gary Lee Taylor.   Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. is in charge of the arrangements
