Mrs. Ethel Newmans Corbitt, age 91 of Blackshear, Ga. passed away Friday, September 22, 2017 at the home of her daughter in Blackshear, Ga. following a brief illness. A native of Willacoochee, Ga., Mrs. Corbitt was born August 5, l926, daughter of Rell and Recie Hall Newmans. She had made her home in Albany and Savannah for many years and after her husband passed away, she began staying with her daughters. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jathon Corbitt. Survivors include: Son: Donald Jathon Corbitt of Savannah, Ga. 3 Daughters: Jo Anne Lane of Savannah, Ga. Cathy Lynn Ragan and husband Everette of Savannah, Ga. Lisa Stewart and husband Russell of Blackshear, Ga. 14 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and other relatives also survive. Visitation for Mrs. Corbitt was held Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. from 1:00 P.M. until 2:30 P.M.. Graveside funeral services and interment followed in the Willacoochee City Cemetery at 3:00 P.M. with Minister Andrew Crowe and Mr. Russell Stewart officiating. Special musical selections included “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace” presented by cd. Serving as active pallbearers were: Trevor Lane, Jathon Lane, Austin Stewart, Matthew Thomas, Johnny Mosher and Zackary Griffin. Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
