Mrs. Emma Summerlin Kiefer, age 72, of Doerun, Ga. formerly of Atkinson County passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the South Ga. Medical Center in Valdosta, Ga. following an extended illness.   A native of Atkinson County, Mrs. Kiefer was born March 2, l945, daughter of Joe and Kizzie Lewis Summerlin. She had made her home in Lowndes County for the past 17 years and had previously worked as a receptionist for Care One Home Healthcare. She enjoyed fishing, dancing and playing bingo. Her church membership was at Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, J. W. Summerlin, sister, Christine Bowen and 2 infant sisters, Ollie Mae and Ruby Summerlin.   Survivors include: Husband:         Emory Kiefer of Lake Park, Ga.   Step Son:          Daryl Kiefer of Lake Park, Ga.   Step Daughter: Cheryl Baker of Daytona, Fl.   4 Brothers:       Tommy Verlin Summerlin and wife Nellie of Mason, Tenn.                         Jimmy Summerlin and wife Debra of Mason, Tenn.                         Roger Summerlin of Tifton, Ga.                         Hardy Summerlin and wife Laverne of Pearson, Ga.   Sister:               Verlene Summerlin and significant other Pam Tyson of Doerun, Ga.   2 Grandchildren: Amanda Wheeler and husband Melvin                         Claudia Tyson 1 Great Grandchild: Miley Wheeler Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.   Funeral services for Mrs. Kiefer were held at 11:00 A. M. Friday, October 20, 2017 at Arabi Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Robertson officiating. Special music included “If You Only Knew” rendered by soloist Laverne Summerlin with tape accompaniment and “Amazing Grace” and “Joy of Assurance” presented by the Primitive Baptist Singers. The interment followed in the Arabi Cemetery.   Serving as active pallbearers were: Hardy Summerlin, Jimmy Summerlin, Joe Bowen, Joseph Summerlin, Cory Batchelor and Melvin Wheeler.   Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, Ga. is in charge of the arrangements.
