James Elam "Jimmy" Gaskins

Mr. James E. “Jimmy” Gaskins, age 81, of Willacoochee, Ga. passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, Ga. following an extended illness.   A native of Willacoochee, Ga., Mr. Gaskins was born November 25, l936, son of Cecil and Daisy Brooker Gaskins. He was a retired farmer and assisted his late brother, Dr. Benny Gaskins with his veterinary practice. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Willacoochee, Ga. where he served as Deacon, Sunday School teacher, song leader and Secretary and Treasurer of the church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Lott Gaskins and brother Dr. Benny Gaskins.   Survivors include: Daughter: Tammy Paulk and husband Jim of Willacoochee, Ga.   Son: James E. Gaskins, Jr. and wife Penny of Willacoochee, Ga.   2 Sisters: Martha Estelle Usry of Smithville, Ga.                Evelyn Rentz of Ehrhardt, S.C.   6 Grandchildren: Tracy Griffin, Ashley Paulk, Victoria Greene, Joseph Herold, McCoy Herold, and Callie Herold.   4 Great Grandchildren: Macey Paulk, Levi Paulk, Jake Paulk, and Marlee Griffin.   Special Friend: Bera “B” Gaskin of Axson, Ga.   Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.   Funeral services for Mr. Gaskins were held on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at the Willacoochee First Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Floyd, Rev. Carroll Carver and Rev. Jack Chaney officiating. Special musical selections included “Amazing Grace” and “Victory in Jesus” rendered by the attending congregation with Bonnie Kunberger accompanying at the piano and “Cleanse Me” rendered by soloist, Betty Boatwright with Bonnie Kunberger accompanying at the piano. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude by Bonnie Kunberger, pianist. The interment followed in Paulk Cemetery.   Serving as active pallbearers were: Joseph Herold, John Lindsey, Ashley Paulk, Lyle Gaskins, Chris Gaskins, Charles Usry, Todd Rentz and Trent Rentz Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
