Mrs. Bessie Lou Colley Harrell, age 72, of Pearson, Ga. passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017 at her home in Pearson, Ga. following an extended illness. A native of Clinch County, Mrs. Harrell was born February 16, l945, daughter of Willie and Victoria Gill Colley. She had made her home in Atkinson County for most of her life and was a member of Goodwill Assembly of God Church in Pearson, Ga.. She worked for many years with the Atkinson County Board of Education in the Culinary Department as a food service worker. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading the Bible, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Angela Gurley and Rose McKinnon. Survivors include: Husband: Bennie Harrell of Pearson, Ga. 4 Sons: Dink Whittington and wife Luanne of Pearson, Ga. Rob Harrell and wife Traci of Nicholls, Ga. Barry Harrell and wife Amanda of Pearson, Ga. Ben Harrell of Atlanta, Ga. 2 Daughters: Rhonda Harrell of Ambrose, Ga. Amanda Harrell Morris and husband Kelly of Pearson, Ga. 10 Grandchildren, 4 Great-Great Grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Harrell were held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at the Goodwill Assembly of God Church in Pearson, Ga. with Mr. Bennie Harrell and Rev. L. G. Aldridge, Jr. officiating. Special musical selection “Go Rest High on That Mountain” was rendered by soloist, Kelly Morris who accompanied himself on the guitar. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was by CD. The interment followed in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with “Amazing Grace” sung at the graveside. Serving as active pallbearers were: Charlie Fussell, Scotty Dunaway, Earnest Johnson, Bunky Moore, Lewis Harrell, John Harrell, and Leroy Arnold. Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
