Mr. Harvey McClendon, age 82, of Willacoochee, Ga. passed away Tuesday night at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga. following an extended illness. A native of Atkinson County, Mr. McClendon was born March 6, l936, son of Horace and Ethel McDaniel McClendon. He had made his home in Douglas and Willacoochee most of his life. He was a mechanic by trade and owned and operated Up-Town Texaco for many years. He enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his grandchildren. He attended the Willacoochee Holiness Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John McClendon and a sister, Kathleen Sears. Survivors include: Wife: Verchel McClendon of Willacoochee, Ga.Son: Chris McClendon and wife Debra of West Green, Ga.Daughter: Alisha Cross of Douglas, Ga.2 Brothers: Freddie McClendon and wife Sue of Brookfield, Ga. Ed McClendon and wife Jackie of Leesburg, Ga. 4 Grandchildren: Lara McClendon of West Green, Ga. Taylor McClendon of West Green, Ga. Marty Crosby and husband Eddie of Axson, Ga. Will Fain and wife Raven of Pearson, Ga. 2 Great-Grandchildren: Leigha Crosby and Ian Fain Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. Funeral Services for Mr. McClendon were held Friday, May 18, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. at Relihan Funeral Home Chapel in Pearson, Ga. with Rev. David Rowe officiating. Special music included “Go Rest High on That Mountain” and “Gathering Flowers for the Master’s Bouquet” presented by CD and “I’ll Stroll over Heaven With You” and “I’ll Fly Away” were rendered by the Cornerstone Singers with Michael McEachern accompanying on the guitar. Prelude and Postlude music was by CD. The interment followed in the Mora Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were: Eddie Crosby, Sherman Taylor, Bobby Taylor, Robert McClendon, Ronnie McClendon and Will Fain. Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
