Mrs. Letrell Nipper Gillis, age 79, of Pearson, Ga. passed away, Friday, October 19, 2018 at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga. following an extended illness.
Born July 03, l939 in Coffee County, Mrs. Gillis was the daughter of Willie and Mary Carver Nipper. She had made her home in Atkinson County for most of her life. During her life she held many titles, homemaker, housewife, farmer, food service worker with the Atkinson County School System, but the one near and dear to her heart was that of MAMA to her six children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vickers Gillis and Great Grandson, Aiden Walker Gillis.

Nipper Gillis and Amber Chaney of Pearson, Ga.
Lidge Gillis of Pearson, Ga.
C.V. Gillis and wife Crystal of Pearson, Ga.
2 Daughters: Vickie Gillis Cook and Vernon Cook of Hinesville, Ga.
Ann Mary Gillis of Douglas, Ga.
10 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Grandchild, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gillis were held, Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. at Relihan Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Mock officiating. The eulogy was given by her daughter, Vickie Gillis Cook. Special musical selections were, “I Believe”, “Far Side Banks of Jordon”, “Amazing Grace”, “Silver Wings” and “She’s Not Crying Anymore” rendered by CD. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was by CD. The interment followed in Mt. Zion Church Cemetery.
Serving as active pallbearers were: C. V. Gillis, Nipper Gillis, Davis Gillis, Vernon Cook, Jonathon DeCosta and Charlie Nipper.
Honorary pallbearers were: Hampton Giddens, Dougal Gillis, Gerald Wright, Johnny Wright, and Charlton Gillis.
Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
